In the hopes of promoting good health and well being, Trigg County Hospital, in a partnership with the Cadiz-Trigg County Chamber of Commerce is hosting a 12-week Biggest Loser Weight Loss Challenge, which is open to all adults in Trigg County and the surrounding areas.

According to Audra Hodges of Trigg County Hospital, authorized personnel will conduct confidential weigh-ins and five-member team assignments to ensure accuracy and fairness. Teams will be assigned according to place of employment, civic organization, church group, added Hodges.

TCH Wellness Coordinator Vanessa Futrell, with Peel and Holland Financial Group of Benton, will conduct the weigh-ins, assign teams, and will be the only person who knows each person’s weight, and will be impartial, Chamber of Commerce President John Durden said.

“The Biggest Loser was actually the brainchild of one of our (hospital) board members, Mallory Lawrence,” said Hodges, adding that while she doesn’t know how many people will ultimately sign up, the interest has already been overwhelming, as she and Jody Brewer, also of the hospital, have already fielded several phone calls from people who want to compete.

Those participating in the program are encouraged to combine outdoor and indoor physical activities to increase their personal fitness levels, Hodges said. The 12-week program will start on Monday, Feb. 2, in order to coincide with National Heart Month, said Durden.

“The Chamber of Commerce is extremely excited to partner with Trigg County Hospital in this very worthwhile community-wide competition,” Durden said.
