Lady Wildcats turn back Dawson Springs

CADIZ – The Trigg County Lady Wildcats returned to the win column Saturday, defeating visiting Dawson Springs 63-49 in a non-district game. Brooke Kearney led Trigg County in the winning effort. Kearney had a near double-double for the Lady Wildcats, exiting the weekend girls’ high school basketball game with 17 points and eight rebounds. She hit five of seven three-point field goal attempts. Kearney also recorded five steals in the Trigg County triumph.

Trigg County improved to 3-7 after claiming the win.

The Lady Wildcats established an early lead over Dawson Springs and controlled the game. Trigg County outscored Dawson Springs 16-6 in the first quarter and entered halftime ahead 39-26.

Remaining out in front in the second half, Trigg County outscored Dawson Springs 15-6 in the third quarter.

Eleven different Lady Wildcats provided scoring in the victory over Dawson Springs.

Ashley Matlock added 15 points for the victorious Trigg County girls’ basketball team.

Sophomore center Morgan Parker and sophomore guard Elysia Brown narrowly missed double figures for Trigg County, tossing in nine points apiece. Janada Acree scored four, Trinity Wortham netted three and Dori Sheehan scored two for the Lady Wildcats. Audrey Futrell, Alyssa Maxey, Kameo Bingham and Diasia Huyghue each scored on a free for homestanding Trigg County.

The Lady Wildcats stopped a two-game losing skid with the win.

Trigg County excelled at the free throw line, hitting 14-of-18 charity shots.
