“According to our cafeteria manager, Paula Maddox, requests are being made daily from for applications,” Hamby said. “Cafeteria staff is processing completed applications on a daily basis.”
According to the latest numbers provided by Hamby, there are 1,123 students that qualify for free or reduced lunches; 906 of them qualify for free lunches, and 217 of them qualify for reduced lunches. At the most recent count, the school system had a total of 2,035 students enrolled.
In December 2007, there were 1,015 students that qualified for free or reduced lunches, 806 of which qualify for free lunches and 209 of which qualified for reduced lunches. There were 2,026 students in the school system in January 2008, said Hamby.
In May of 2007, there were 2,063 students in the school system, 1,051 of which qualified for free or reduced meals, and of those 843 qualified for free meals and 208 of which qualified for reduced meals, according to Hamby.
In September 2006, there were 2,056 students in the school system, 1,034 of which qualified for free or reduced meals, and of those 830 qualified for free meals and 204 qualified for reduced meals, said Hamby.
“Most students who qualify for free/reduced lunch eat school lunches and/or breakfasts,” Hamby said.
At a meeting of the Trigg Industrial Managers Agency, Hamby urged parents and guardians whose students qualify for free or reduced meals to apply.
