Trigg County snapped a three-game losing streak last Tuesday (Feb. 10), defeating visiting Dawson Springs 87-70. Jonathan King scored a game-high 20 points, Dustin White scored 15, Zeke Wright tossed in 14 and Jalik Alexander added 10 as the Wildcats returned to the win column.

The Wildcats took an early lead, outscoring Dawson Springs 25-17 in the first quarter. Trigg County led 45-30 at the half.

Defensively, Dawson Springs came out in a double-team on Trigg County leading scorer Jonathan King. The double-team on King left more than one of his teammates open. Zeke Wright scored eight points in the first two minutes for Trigg County while Bradley Davis and Dustin White also hit outside shots. Shelton Burruss had six assists to get the Wildcats off to the good start. Trigg County’s diverse offensive effort forced Dawson Springs out of its defensive set. Despite the double-team, King managed to score on a couple of baskets.

Bradley Davis narrowly missed double figures for Trigg County, exiting the contest with nine points.

Trigg County was able to hold its own on the glass against a big, athletic Dawson Springs tea. White and Zeke Wright each had 11 rebounds for Trigg County.

“We finally played up to the level we were at before the ice storm,” said Trigg County Coach Mike Wright. “We made the extra pass during this game. We penetrated in and then pitched it back out for open shots. We also got good play off of our bench. Jalik Alexander sparked us with 10 points and some good defense.
