Jenny Wadlington, director of inpatient services for Trigg County Hospital, said this was the first time this fair has been held at the hospital, and hopes for high turnout.
Among the topics were three of the most pressing health issues – heart disease, diabetes and strokes, said Wadlington. Mammography, smoking cessation and other health-related issues will also be discussed, Wadlington added.
Speaking at the fair was Clifford Poppens, M.D., an internal medicine physician, and Melissa Murphy, Physician’s Assistant Certified (PA-C), also, said Wadlington. Both work at the Trigg County Rural Health Clinic.
Erika Lancaster, R.T., of the diagnostic imaging department of Trigg County Hospital spoke about the importance of regular health exams. A Healthcare Financial Services representative talked about Medicaid and DISH, a service for those that are uninsured, said Wadlington.
Lunch was provided by Genesis Express and the hospital. Those that wanted to attend had to RSVP by Thursday, Feb. 26, by calling 522-5302.
