NARFE meets in Cadiz

Chapter 1730 of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) met on March 11, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. in the Cadiz Senior Center.

President Oliver Wilson opened the meeting by calling on Chaplain Clyde Weaver to give the invocation which was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

Wilson then invited the 2009-2010 Chapter Officers to come forward for the Oath of Office. Kentucky Federation Vice President Martha Smith, administered the Oath. Smith also reminded all members to give their full support to the duly sworn in chapter officers.

Wilson asked the membership if anyone will be attending the upcoming State Convention scheduled for April 14-16, 2009 in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. No chapter delegates will be attending.

Treasurer Jim Mustian called for a special collection to support the NARFE Alzheimer Research Fund. The special collection netted $47.77. The chapter voted to round out this amount to $50.00.

The business portion of the meeting was adjourned.

Guest Speaker of the Day was Mrs. Carolyn Bland form the Cadiz Senior Center

Bland presented floor plans of the New Senior Center which will be located behind Food Giant in a field across from the Water Tower. John Leneave has donated 3 acres of his land for the project. At present the plans are for 5 acres of land on which the facility will be built. The new Senior Center will be 9,053 square feet.

Plans are for 3 separate meeting rooms with dividers for overflow crowds rooms will have. There will be an exercise room with treadmills and other exercise equipment. The Center will have an Adult Daycare Center. A break room and workroom will be added to the offices.
