Rev. Wesley Curtis officiated at the services. Burial followed at KY Veteran’s Cemetery West, in Hopkinsville.
Mr. Childress died on Thursday, March 19, 2009, at 7:15 p.m. at Jennie Stuart Medical Center, in Hopkinsville, of natural causes.
Mr. Childress was born on Tuesday, November 9, 1920, in Trigg Co. He was the son of the late Cecil Clifton and Betty Lee Cameron Childress.
Mr. Childress was retired from Means Linen Service where he was a truck driver. He was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. He was a member of the US Army Veterans serving in WWII, he was also a prisoner of war.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four sisters, Helen Bridges, Flora Pool, Dorothy Hester Childress, and Edna May Childress.
Survivors include one brother, Clarence Woodrow Childress, of Tucson, AZ, two nephews, Stan Bridges, of Cadiz, David Pool, of Hopkinsville, three nieces, Elizabeth Julee, of Portland, OR, Karen Mason, of Hopkinsville, and Margaret Curtis, of Princeton, and several great nieces and nephews.
