Rev. Irvin Darnell officiated at the service. Burial followed in Elm Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Oakley died on Friday, March 20, 2009, at 9:55 p.m. at his home.
Mr. Oakley was born on March 6, 1913 in the Golden Pond area of Trigg Co. He was the son of the late Chester A. and Alpha Ahart Oakley.
Mr. Oakley was retired from the Kentucky State Highway Department, after working there for over 15 years.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Ora Mae Hunter, one sister, Retha Wells, and two brothers, Otis and Andrew Oakley.
Survivors include his wife for over 75 years, Lila Futrell Oakley, of Murray, one daughter and son-in-law, Vickey and Jimmie Lane, of Cadiz, one son and daughter-in-law, M.C. and Fay Oakley, of Murray, three sisters, Edith Attebury, of Lone Oak, KY, Cornelia Sparrow, Of Calvert City, KY, and Mary Littlejohn, of Benton and seven grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
