An 11-year-old Cadiz boy was sent to the hospital after he was struck on his bicycle by a pick-up truck on LaFayette Street near Perdue Field at about 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7, said a report by Major Duncan Wiggins of the Cadiz Police Department. He was released the next day.

Skylar Shepard was riding southbound on Westend but didn’t stop at the intersection of LaFayette Street and crossed into incoming traffic, at which point he was struck by a pickup truck being driven by Wilford Kennedy, a Cadiz resident that was traveling eastbound, said Wiggins.

The child’s head hit the truck’s windshield, and then he landed in the bed of the pickup, Wiggins said.
