Lady ‘Cats still looking for second win of year

After winning their first game of the season nearly a month ago, the Trigg County Lady Wildcats are still looking for No. 2.

Trigg managed 10 hits last Tuesday against Todd County Central but lost 8-3. Friday, the Lady ‘Cats never got started in an 8-0 loss at Crittenden County.

Against Todd, Trigg led 2-1 after the second inning scored a run in each of the first three innings but couldn’t cross the plate after that.

In the field, the Lady Wildcats committed seven errors to help the Lady Rebel cause. Todd scored three times in the third and four in the fourth to cap the win.

Whitney Cain was the losing pitcher for Trigg. She pitched a complete game and struck out eight batters.

MARION – Against Crittenden County, Cain and Dakotah Littlejohn singled for Trigg’s only hits. Cain threw another complete game and struck out five.

Trigg improved in the field with only two errors, but the bats never woke up.

Trigg’s game scheduled for Monday at Todd County was postponed. The Lady ‘Cats were scheduled to play Tuesday at Lyon County. Results were unavailable at press time.
