Ladies and gentlemen of Trigg County, we are pleased to announce that through your incredible support and generosity the Cadiz Rotary Club has successfully completed its’ 2009 Annual Radio Auction. As announced we established a financial goal of $150,000 which represented an increase of approximately 5 percent over last year’s objective of $142,008. Once we have collected all monies due from both the auctioned items and Century Club pledges the net proceeds will exceed our stated objective by several thousand dollars. This truly reflects an amazing achievement considering the economy and recent set backs encountered by our local marketplace. It brings an old adage to mind “When the going gets tough the tough get going.” Please know that without your enthusiastic response to support our youth and senior citizens this accomplishment would NOT have been possible.
Fifty percent of these funds will go towards academic scholarships and needs based grants. Each of these categories, based on student applications continue to increase every year. Scholarships offered will enable local graduating students to continue their education at other institutions, and grants will help existing college students, in this program, to complete a degree of their choice. With the balance of these funds we will continue to support such local initiatives as the Imagination Library, the Back Pack Program, school athletics, senior activities and special needs as they occur.
No matter the cause please be assured that our primary focus remains the well being of our youth and senior citizens. Our elders have brought us this far and deserve our respect and a decent tomorrow. On the other hand our youth, have future dreams of their own. They need our collective help to face these challenges with as much knowledge and experience available so they can be successful and hopefully bring their talents back home to create new and more viable opportunities.
