New exhibit to premiere at Janice Mason Art Museum

Janice Mason Art Museum will present Segues: Works in Wool/Works on Paper, a Collaboration of Vision and Voice by artists Dobree Adams and Jonathan Greene June 26 – August 9, 2009. ?The couple, who live near Frankfort, are both recipients of the prestigious Al Smith Kentucky Individual Artist Fellowships awarded by the Kentucky Arts Council, and have collaborated on a variety of projects

Dobree Adams has long been recognized as one of Kentucky’s most prominent contemporary fiber artists. Since 2003 she has also been exhibiting her photography and is one of the co-founders of the Kentucky Women Photographers Network which now has over 70 members across the Commonwealth. ?Jonathan Greene, author of 28 books including Heart Matters; Hut Poems; Gists Orts Shards, A Commonplace Book; and Fault Lines, is the publisher of Gnomon Press, a small press specializing in literature and photography. ?

Segues will include many collaborative pieces such as weavings with photographs, weavings with poems, photographs with poems, broadsides from Gnomon Press 40th birthday portfolio, and a selection of works from Mountain Elegies, an exhibition at the Singletary Center for Fine Arts in Lexington. ?Many of these works will be for sale.

Jonathan Greene will read selected poetry beginning at 6:00 PM on June 26 preceding the exhibit opening and artists’ reception at 7:00 PM. ?Janice Mason Art Museum’s Poetry Contest winners will also be invited to read their winning entries at the poetry reading. ?

The Janice Mason Art Museum is open Tuesdays – Saturdays 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Sundays 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM. ?Evening hours can be arranged for group tours. ?Admission is free; donations are greatly appreciated.

The Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency, supports the Janice Mason Art Museum with state tax dollars and federal funding from the National Endowment for the Arts, which believes that a great nation deserves great art.
