Janice Curtis came to the meeting to talk about the possibility of adding a designated smoking area. Curtis said she has asthma and sometimes gets sick from the cigarette smoke when she goes to games.
“I have to move as many as four or five times a night because people sitting by me will start smoking,” Curtis said.
Complex Board Chairman Ralph Thomas said they would make a decision on the matter within the next two meetings.
Complex Board Member Stacy Futrell also discussed a list of needs for the various fields. Among those needs are a permanent pitcher’s mound and a score keeper’s booth for the softball field and a scoreboard for field number one, and also said that the pole conduits at Vic Mitchell field need to be replaced or restrapped.
The board also talked about whether or not they should allow dogs and other pets in the complex, as a few board members complained that dogs especially make a mess. The board ultimately voted to have a “no pets allowed policy, pending approval” by Trigg County Attorney H.B. Quinn.
Complex Board Member Thelma Fowler also talked about American Legion’s use of their fields, and suggested that the board charge them. The board voted to charge $25 per game and to require two days’ notice for use of the concessions stand.
Complex Manager Jerry Radford said that stall walls for the complex bathrooms would be installed.
In other matters, Thomas told the board that their budget is roughly $120,000.
