The descendants of this family schedule a Cunningham reunion each year in Cadiz. The 19th reunion was held June 20 the Saturday prior to Father’s Day, at the Trigg County Schools cafeteria.
Numerous persons attended and enjoyed meeting their relatives, including old and new acquaintances, and sharing their family history. Bill Cunningham, vice president, called the meeting to order and treasurer Melinda Thompson gave the financial report. New officers for the year 2009-20010 were introduced.
They are as follows: Ernie Mitchell, President; Dillmon Cunningham, Vice President; Secretary, Linda Rhudy; Treasurer, Melinda Thompson; Historians, Julia Webster, Cheryl Cunningham and Carol C. White.
The descendants gather for a business meeting, lunch and recognition of some of the outstanding members present. Those members recognized were: Charlotte C. Wilson and Dulcie Womble, the oldest female descendants, both 92 years old; Hale Murphy, the oldest male descendant; Chaney Mitchell, the youngest descendant; and the descendant traveling the farthest was Don Bridges from Minnesota.
The 2010 reunion is scheduled for the Saturday before Father’s Day at the Trigg County Schools cafeteria. Registration begins at 10 a.m. followed by fellowship, business meeting, special presentations and lunch at noon.
Anyone that is a Cunningham or related to the Cunningham family is welcome to attend. Next year will celebrate 20 years that the reunion has been held and a special meeting is being planned. Make your arrangements to attend.
