The Minister Dr. Hilda Brantley officiated at the services. Burial followed at the Slaughter’s Cemetery, in Slaughters, KY.
Mr. Cowan died at 5:10 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at Trigg County Hospital in Cadiz of natural causes.
Mr. Cowan was born Friday, December 24, 1920, in Uhrichsville, Ohio. He was the son of the late William David and Florence Retzler Cowan.
Mr. Cowan was retired from Goodyear Aerospace. He was a member of the American Legion. He was a US Army and Merchant marines veteran serving in WWII. He was a member of Cadiz United Methodist Church and a member of the Methodist Men’s.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mattie Belle “Susan” Cowan and three brothers, Lyle Cowan, Verne Cowan and Bob Cowan.
Survivors include his wife, Julia Dell Ferguson Cowan of Cadiz; one step son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Sharon Cotton of Cadiz; step grandchildren, James and Sally Cotton, Jeff and Charlotte Cotton; step great grandchildren, Ella Kay Cotton, Ethan Cotton, Evan Cotton, Eli Cotton and Several nieces and nephews.
Serving, as pallbearers were James Cotton, Jeff Cotton, Pete Glass, Charles Choate, Harold Ferguson, and Jack Ferguson.
John Mitchell, vocalist and instrumentalist provided the music.
