I heard Trigg was going to import fleas to generate income. We’d need more vets, exterminators, insecticide sales, doctors, etc. Hmm? I never thought of fleas as being good for anything. Isn’t their bite worse than their benefit?
I was recently stopped by “Grow Trigg” folks at our local farmers market. They said they just want economic growth for Trigg. But would we really grow economically from alcohol?
They said that it would bring in more restaurants and hotels. Do we want our college grads coming home to these minimum wage jobs?
They said it would raise property values. That just means higher property tax for me. I’m not selling out of my hometown! I value our lifestyle here far more than money.
They also said we’d been “passed over” for the Wal-Mart Distribution Center in Hopkinsville. Sunflower Mills, Continental Mills, Flynn Enterprises – all in Hopkinsville – are distributed through Wal-Mart stores. How would alcohol have changed that?
Saying more alcohol in this town won’t cause our crime rate to go up is like saying more salt in a salty dish won’t make it taste saltier!
The more I think about it, importing fleas make more sense than alcohol sales!
