Trigg tops UHA in back-to-back matches

Trigg County won a pair of golf matches against University Heights Academy last week.

Trigg won Monday 158-175 at Western Hills Golf Course in Hopkinsville. Wildcat senior Trent Parrent won medalist honors by shooting a 1-over-par 37. Also playing for Trigg were Josh Lowe (39), Nick Choate (40), Derek Rogers (42) and Cole Gardner (45).

Karli Bush led the Lady Wildcats and was medalist with a round of 46. Madison Chaney shot a 52 for Trigg.

In the boys JV match, Trigg’s Ryan Russell had the low round of the day with a 41.

The result was slightly closer than Thursday’s Trigg-UHA match at Boots Randolph Golf Course in Cadiz, which Trigg won 155-187. Parrent was also medalist in that match after shooting an even-par 36. Parrent scored birdies on three of the last four h oles.

Lowe and Rogers each shot 39 for Trigg, followed by Choate (41) and Gardner (42).

Sierra Bush led Trigg’s girls with 1 48. Chaney shot 60, and Karli Bush shot 61.

Lyon County was scheduled to participate in that match but was unable to make the trip.

Last Tuesday, Trigg finished between Caldwell and Crittenden counties in a three-team match at Marion Country Club.

Caldwell County won with a team score of 166, one stroke ahead of the Wildcats and seven ahead of host Crittenden.

Parrent led Trigg by shooting 39, followed by Rogers (41), Gardner (42) and Choate (45).

Sierra Bush shot 50 to lead the Lady ‘Cats, followed by Chaney (60) and Karli Bush (61).

Trigg was scheduled to host Crittenden and Christian counties Tuesday at Boots. Results were unavailable at press time.

Trigg will travel Thursday to Mineral Mounds Golf Course to play Lyon County and host two matches at Boots to start next week – Monday against Marshall County and Tuesday against Calloway County and Murray. Saturday, the Lady ‘Cats are scheduled to play in the Paducah Invitational at Paxton Park.
