Fireflies in jars…remember doing that on warm summer evenings? Before summer is really gone I have one more summer book. “Pam’s Pick of the Week” “Summer House” by Nancy Thayer.

She brings three generations of strong willed women together. No matter where life takes you, love always finds a way back home. Too tame…then try, “Devil’s Punchbowl” by Greg Iles, again this book is set in Natchez, Mississippi. Iles brings back Penn Cage to help handle casino gambling on the river.

My Non-fiction picks well two books that seem to contradict one another, “Down Home with the Neelys” by Patrick and Gina Neely, this is a southern family cookbook, with an intro by Paula Deen, and “Diet Myths That Keep Us Fat” by Nancy Snyderman, M.D. You decide! And now for the younger side. New Easy Readers: “Marley & Me: Meet Marley by Natalie Engel, and “Marley to the Rescue” by M.K. Gaudet. And the parents can read “Marley & Me: Life and Love with the World’s Worst Dog” by John Grogan then you can watch the movie, “Marley & Me.”

New Fiction: “Black Hills” by Nora Roberts, the story of two childhood friends who meet again after several years. Cooper was eleven when he went to spend the summer with his grandparents in South Dakota. He was not too happy about it until he meets Lil Chance. Cooper and Lil are fast friends and have fun together. Cooper returns to South Dakota as an adult to care for his aging grandparents. Lil and Cooper meet again to renew the love they once had for each other. The two soon learn the hills have many secrets.

“Burn” by Linda Howard, this is a rags to riches story with a twist. Jenner Redwine wins a lottery jackpot and her life changes. But not all for the better.

“Aunt Dimity Slays the Dragon” by Nancy Atherton, this is a new Aunt Dimity Vampire Hunter novel. Lori is attending a Renaissance fair with all the wizards, wenches, magicians and fairgoers and a stalker. The stalker is trying to kill the Good King Wilfred but Aunt Dimity is not going to let that happen.

New Juvenile Fiction: The Artemis Fowl series by Eoin Colfer, “Artemis Fowl” book 1, “Artic Incident” book 2, “Eternity Code” book 3, “Opal Deception” book 4, “Lost Colony” book 5, and “Time Paradox” book 6. Artemis is a twelve year-old criminal mastermind. He along with his two sidekicks, want to steel all the gold from the fairyfolk. These are delightful stories.

New Christian Fiction: “A Dream to Call My Own” by Tracie Peterson, this is book three in the Brides of Gallatin County series. Lacy is the youngest of the Gallatin girls. She is determined to find her father’s killer.  Deputy Sheriff Shepard is close to finding out who the killer is but when he is around Lacy there is tension in the air. Will the two find the killer and maybe a relationship too?

New Audio Books: “The Devils’ Punchbowl” by Greg Iles, “First Family” by David Baldacci, and “The Scarecrow” by Michael Connelly.

New CDs: “I Am …Sasha Fierce” by Beyonce, “For(n)ever” by Hoobastank, and “We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things” by Jason Mraz.

New DVDs: “Valkyrie” and “Bride Wars.”

New Display: The James Thomas Chapter of the Daughter’s of the American Revolution have a wonderful display for the Constitution Week September 17-25, this is the 222nd anniversary of the United States Constitution.

Don’t forget: Storytime will be starting September 9th. Ms. Cheryl has a fun filled year planned for preschoolers. Storytime is every Wednesday at 10:30.  All two to five year olds are welcome. If you have any questions please call 270-522-6301.
