Rebecca Claire Wylie and Ryan Lester Wallace were married at 6:30 p.m., Saturday, May 9, 2009, at First Methodist Church, Birmingham, Ala.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Wylie, Birmingham, Ala., and Ms. Deborah Lighton, Atlanta, Ga. She is the granddaughter of Frank Wylie, Birmingham, Ala., and the late Louise “Lou” Wylie and the late Edna Lighton.

The bridegroom is the son of Jim and Penny Wallace, Cadiz. He is the grandson of the late Willard and Cotton Lester and the late Conley and Geneva Wallace.?Rev. Tom Martin of Cadiz officiated.

Nuptial music was provided by Paul Stanfield, acoustic guitar; Carol Leitner, cello; and Dawn Grant, violin. The guest register was kept by Jenny Lin and Reesha Shah, friends of the bride, Birmingham, Ala.

The reception was at the Summit Club on the 32nd floor of the Regions-Harbert Plaza in downtown Birmingham.

The couple honeymooned in Jamaica and now resides in San Francisco, Calif. The bride graduated from the University of Alabama-Birmingham School of Medicine in May and started her internal medicine residency at the University of California-San Francisco in June.

The bridegroom is a freelance writer, editor, and publishing consultant currently working with The PGA of America.

Friends and family hosted several events for the couple in Birmingham, Ala. A gift reception at Cadiz Baptist Church was hosted by Margie Vinson, Mildred Ezell, Margaret Thomas, Virginia Stubblefield, Kay Wagoner, Rebecca Cunningham, Cookye Tyler, and Marcia Broadbent.

Two weeks following the wedding, a second reception was held at Fairholme in Cadiz, and hosted by Katie Broadbent, Wendy Futrell, Carla Sanders, Becky Boggess, Mary Ann Sutherland, Linda Grasty, Carolyn Lawrence, and Margie Vinson.
