Mr. F. Eugene (Gene) Campbell 82, of Bark Ridge Circle passed away at 10:47 a.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at his home of natural causes. Services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, September 5, 2009 at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home with Chaplain Lloyd Tucker officiating. Burial followed in Green Hill Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Campbell was born September 5, 1926 in Trigg County, the son of the late Francis Breathitt and Verna Lee Wyatt Campbell. He served in the US Army during WWII in the Merchant Marines. Later in life he was one of two civilians invited to go on the maiden voyages of Navy Nuclear vessels as a guest of Admiral John Buckley.

Mr. Campbell was the owner/operator of Campbell Office Equipment from 1949-1998. He was a deacon at First Christian Church, a member of the Chamber of Commerce; water Commissioner, Shriner, Kentucky Colonel, Rotarian, and a Mason.

Gene was an avid hunter and fisherman. He appreciated nature and was an active community member until retirement. Gene had a wonderful sense of humor, and was loved and will be missed by his family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Clementina Ramirez Campbell October 25, 2004, a daughter, Linda Frances Campbell, and two brothers, Roy and Lennis Campbell.

Survivors include his daughters, Sandra C. Attermeyer of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Janet Campbell of San Antonio, Texas; a sister, Mrs. Thomas (Angelea) Doss of Hopkinsville, a sister-in-law, Evelyn Campbell of Hopkinsville, two grandchildren, Brian and Alex Nenties; two great grandchildren, Benjamin and Thomas Henties; a grand nephew, Matthew Campbell of Hopkinsville, and a multitude of other nieces, nephews, and grand nephews.
