The Cadiz Lions Club met recently and was awarded a Commendation from the International President, Al Brandel. The club had obtained 10 new members this past year. The club was commended for distinguishing themselves as an everyday hero by creating miracles through service.

The club is now accepting donations for the leader dog program. The Cadiz Lions Club has two members, Doug and Cher Loose who now have “Fisher” in training at their home to be a leader dog for the blind. If you see one of our donation containers in our local merchant stores please feel free to donate to a very worthy cause.

November 18th the club will be conducting a Community Diabetes Awareness with Trigg County Hospital in the lobby. Testing will be conducted and information given out. This is a free service to our community.

Recently, Lions Eldon and Alicia Pontius and Ken & Sharon Oravetz traveled to the Kentucky State Fair in Louisville and helped screen eyes for the Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation. The Cadiz Lions members screened approximately 40 to 50 people. In the course of the 11 day fair 4,958 adults and 658 children were screened. They did three types of eye screening, standard vision, perefrial vision and glocoma.

The Cadiz Lion’s Club is committed to helping make our community a better place to live. We welcome others who share this vision and want to be an active part of it. Membership is gained through sponsorship from a currently active member. Please contact one of our officers or members for more details into this worth while organization.
