Cadiz Civitan Club meets Tuesday night, Sept. 1 at Cadiz Restaurant, with President Rachel Shepard presiding. Richard Pauze led the Pledge to the U.S.A. Flag, and John Mitchell said the prayer. Final plans were made for the Annual Civitan Family Picnic, at West Cadiz Park shelter Tuesday Sept. 15.

All Civitans, family and friends are invited to come early, prepared to eat at 6. Hopkinsville Civitan club is also invited. Ronnie Cook is chief grill master, with help expected from Connie and all the other members. Meat, Bread, & Drinks provided, with members bringing Salads or Desserts.

Wallace Blakeley and William Lawrence gave Candy Box reports. Civitans are selling their concession trailer. If interested, contact any member. Cadiz Civitan will again sponsor the Annual Civitan Pre-Ham Festival Horseshoe Pitching Contest, 2 p.m. Saturday Oct. 3 at Trigg Recreation Complex Horseshoe Rink.

James Rutland has been chairman of this event many years. Prize Donors are being sought now, and contributors will be published in the Cadiz Record. The President’s Quiz was a real poser, about the History of labor, and Labor Day. Willie Wilson had the most correct answers. The members sang Happy Birthday to Mr. James Rutland whose 89th birthday is Sept. 4.

Those attending include Wallace Blakeley, Willie Wilson, William Lawrence, Richard Pauze, Rachel Shepard, David Kyler, Ronnie Cook, James Rutland, and John Mitchell. The Gold Dollar was awarded to Richard Pauze, who closed the meeting by reading the Civitan Creed. Cadiz Civitans meet 6:30 p.m. each first and third Tuesday, but instead, the next meeting, Set. 15 will be 6 p.m. at West Cadiz Park for the annual picnic.
