Private funeral services for Elma S. “Ellie” Everett, 94, of Cadiz, will be held at a later date, and King’s Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Everett died at 11:32 p.m. on Sunday, September 20, 2009, at Montgomery Care and Rehabilitation in Clarksville, Tenn., of natural causes.

Mrs. Everett was born on April 3, 1915, in New York City, N.Y., to the late John Cameron Slack and the late Jeanette Clare (Hahn) Slack.

A member of the Bethel United Methodist Church, Mrs. Everett was a retired school teacher from Lincoln Park, N.J., was a long time member of the New Jersey Educational Association, was a member of the Art Guild in Hopkinsville and received Teacher of the Year Award in 1975.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Harry Brooks Everett, her daughter Carol Everett Simpson and her brother John Selwyn Slack.

She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law Brooks and Paula Everett of New Jersey, Richard Everett of New Jersey, her daughter and son-in-law Elyse and Tim Wanke of Clarksville, Tenn., eight grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.
