Herbert Delmar Buckley, 71, of Crossroads, Texas, formerly of Hopkinsville, passed away at 3 p.m. Monday, October 26, 2009 in Grapevine, Texas.

Delmar was a 1956 graduate of Pembroke High School. He was the Superintendent of the Christian County Water Filtration Plant and Chairman of the Commonwealth of Kentucky Water Treatment Board for many years. Delmar was a member of the American Water Works Association, Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, Christian County Auxilary Police and the Christian County Elks Lodge. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Hopkinsville, where he served as Chairman of the Deacon Council.

Delmar is preceded in death by his parents, Emmett Lee Buckley and Flora Belle (Smith) Buckley. He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Joan A. Buckley; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Todd Wallace of Argyle, Texas; sister, Betty Buckley Jones of Hopkinsville; and his grandchildren, Michael Buckley Wallace and Elizabeth Avery Wallace of Argyle, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in his memory to www.mannarelief.org (for malnourished children) or www.equest.org (for therapeutic horsemanship programs for special needs children). A Celebration of Delmar’s Life will be held at the home of Todd and Melissa Wallace on November 7, 2009, from 3-7pm at 605 Forest Trail, Argyle, TX 76226. All friends and family are invited to attend.
