Memorial services for Charles S. Long, 74, of Hopkinsville were held at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 17, 2009. Rev. Brad Hall officiated. Burial followed in Flat Lick Cemetery.

Long died on November 12, 2009 at Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville of natural causes.

Long was born February 3, 1935 in Christian County, the son of the late Isaac Newton and Alma Flossie Lyle Long. He was owner/operator of Long Rentals and a member of the gospel group Pathfinders. Mr. Long was a veteran of the US Army having served in the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, William Long and Woodson Long; and a sister, Sara Flemming.

Long is survived by his wife, Patricia Oliver Long of Hopkinsville; four sons, Charles Larry Long of Bowling Green, William Eugene Long of Wichita, Kan., Kenneth Wayne Long of Joelton, Tenn., and Terry Long of Crofton; two daughters, Alma Elizabeth Myers of Gettysburg, Pa., Cynthia Diane Mills of Batesville, Miss.; two sisters, Alma Flossie Sullivan of Christian County, Gertrude Mitchell of Florida; and nine grandchildren.
