The Rev. Gary Mitchell assisted by the Rev. James Noble McKinney officiated at the services. Burial followed in Blue Spring Church Cemetery.
Mr. Oakley died at 4 p.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at his home of an apparent sudden heart attack.
Mr. Oakley was born November 23, 1942 in Trigg County. He was the son of the late Stanley and Ellen Thorpe Oakley.
Mr. Oakley was a welder at ITT Grinnell for 20 years. He was sexton at Cedar Hill Cemetery for 20 years. He was a member of Beulah Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Elizabeth Kathleen Oakley, and one brother, Dale Oakley.
Survivors include his wife, Diane Hall Oakley; one brother, Kenneth Oakley of Cadiz; one sister, Sue Bond of Caldwell County; three daughters, Robin Lynn Halliday and husband Garry of Gracey, Heather Ward and husband Hugh of Caldwell County, and Whitney Smurawa and husband Donnie of Princeton; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
