On Dec. 22, Brett Cobb scored 42 points for Dawson Springs, but Trigg County still won 66-60. Monday, the Wildcats held the entire Panthers team to only one more point than Cobb’s previous total in a 74-43 blowout.

Dawson’s only lead of the game was after Cobb scored a basket on the night’s first possession. Trigg answered with 11 straight points and took control with a dominating 31-11 advantage in the second quarter. The Panthers never came within 20 points the rest of the way.

Cobb finished with a game-high 28 points, with 22 of those coming in the second half, but no other Dawson player scored more than six points.

Jalik Alexander led three Wildcats in double figures with 18 points. Richie Ward scored 13 points, all during a late-second-quarter explosion, and Jaylan Mount chipped in 11. Blake Mitchell hit double digits in rebounds with 10. (Full stats are on page B3).

The Wildcats (8-6 overall, 2-1 in 5th District) host district foe Livingston Central (4-7, 0-4) in the second of a girl-boy doubleheader Friday night.

Dawson Springs saw its record fall to 0-12 on the season. The Panthers, who finished 6-18 last season, haven’t won a game since Feb. 9, 2009, a 55-50 win at Community Christian Academy in Paducah. They are the only winless team in the 2nd Region.
