Juliana Elyse Patterson and Patrick Ray Gilbert were united in marriage at 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at Lake Barkley State Resort Park. The bride is the daughter of Mike and Lynn Patterson of Cadiz. She is the granddaughter of the late Allison “Pete” and Nettierene Patterson of Cadiz, and the late Ms. Mildred McClarty of Nashville, Tenn.

The groom is the son of Raymond and Patricia Gilbert of Cadiz, the grandson of Billy Ray and the late Martha Jo Futrell of Cadiz and Lillian Gilbert and the late Orval Ray Gilbert of Evansville, Ind.

The ceremony was on the balcony of the Sunrise room overlooking the lake. The Rev. Jack Larwa officiated, and music was provided by the string trio J. Andrew Miller and Friends. The bride was escorted down the aisle by her father. She chose Mary Tibbets of Oak Grove, to be her matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Eliza Gilbert, sister of the groom, Annie Crabtree, both of Cadiz and Ashley Cowan of Hopkinsville. Flower girls were Arizona Kennedy of Cadiz, Mary Beth and Katie Hallmark of Hopkinsville. Ring bearer was Will Staggs of Vincennes, Ind., all cousins of the groom.

The groom chose Andrew Goins of Cadiz to be his best man. Groomsmen were Chris Mayfield of Murray, cousin of the groom, Steven Pardell of Cadiz and Ross Smith of Hopkinsville. Ushers were Lanny Holeman of Cadiz and Alex Chalker of Mayfield. Guest registry was kept by Megan Sonnek of Minnesota. Programs were distributed by Andrea Rogers and Maya Bridges of Cadiz.

A catered reception followed the ceremony at the convention center of Lake Barkley. Entertainment was provided by Kevin Lynn of Dawson Springs. The wedding was coordinated by Lisa Cunningham.

Prenuptial events included a Bridal shower at Donaldson Creek Baptist church hosted by Connie Kennedy and Debbie Parker, aunts of the groom, Lauren Mayfield, of Paducah, cousin of the groom, and Eliza Gilbert.

A bridal shower at Dots in Hopkinsville, hosted by Stacy Rogers, and a bridal luncheon was hosted by Mary Tibbets at her home in Oak Grove.

Following a honeymoon to Key West, Fla., the couple is residing in Louisville. They are currently pursuing graduate studies at the University of Louisville. Patrick is attending dental school and Juliana is attending medical school.

Both graduated Summa Cum Laude with Bachelors of Science degrees in Biology from Murray State University.
