Trigg academic team placed runner up at Governor’s Cup

Trigg County Middle School placed runner up in the Governor’s Cup District Tournament for academic teams. Caldwell County won the event. Trigg County will send 14 students to compete in the regional contest on February 13th in Hopkinsville.

Governor’s cup has an individual and team competition. Students compete individually in Math, Social Studies, Science, Language Arts, Composition, and Arts and Humanities.

Trigg County won four out of six of the individual competitions. The following students were District Champions: Connor Knight – Science, Brien Dossett – Language Arts, X’Zashea Mayes – Composition, and Alex Carr – Arts & Humanities. Governor’s cup has two team competitions: Future Problem Solving and Quick Recall. Trigg County placed runner up in both events.

Other students qualifying for Regional Tournament include:

Jordan Woodall- District Runner-up in Composition

Connor Knight- 3rd place in Social Studies

Chance Lancaster- 4th place in Science

Brien Dossett- 4th place in Arts and Humanities

Alex Carr – 5th place math

Future Problem Solvers: Patsy Bannister, Hannah Barnett, Chance Lancaster, and Alex Carr

Quick Recall: Brien Dossett, Chance Lancaster, Clark Adams, Connor Knight, Corey Goodwin, Grant Jackonski, Peyton Taylor, Samantha Langdon, Samuel Hughes, and X’Zashea Mayes.
