Ms. Atwood died at 3:25 a.m. Sunday, February 14, 2010 after a traffic accident on the Western Kentucky Parkway.
A native of Nashville, Tenn., she was born on July 3, 1993 to Kevin and Tracie Thomas Atwood of Hopkinsville. She was a junior at University Heights Academy, where she was a member of the National Honor Society, a varsity cheerleader, a member of the Senior Beta Club and served three years on the academy’s Student Council. She was a member of Broyhill Leadership.
She had been a member of the Bluegrass Cheercats for seven years and lettered four years in softball. She was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and First United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was survived by her twin sister, Layton Atwood; paternal grandparents Don and Beverly Atwood of Hopkinsville; maternal grandparents John Thomas of Fort Charlotte, Fla., and Connie Thomas of Kuttawa; paternal great-grandmother Camille Atwood of Hopkinsville and maternal great-grandmother Roberta Meadows of Cadiz.
