In the eighth grade, 160 students took the EXPLORE exam and received scores roughly equivalent to or better than the state and national averages. For example, the average composite score in Kentucky is 14.9, while the average composite score for Trigg County students is 15.5.
In the 10th grade, 169 students took the PLAN exam, which has a scoring scale from 1 to 32. The composite score for Trigg County students is 17.0, better than the state average of 16.7.
In a press release, Sumner said both assessments “help schools pinpoint areas of strengths and weaknesses for individual students and schoolwide curriculum and make changes to improve learning.”
