Trigg County finished 17th out of 51 teams at Saturday’s middle school wrestling state championship at Mount Sterling.

Four Trigg wrestlers finished in the top six in their weight classes – Jerimiah Kline (fourth, 82 pounds), Aaron Stevens (fourth, 185) and Skylar Pool (sixth, 131). Other Trigg wrestlers included Daniel Ingram (103 pounds), Ryan Gallogly (110) and Jayven Jones (140).

Trigg coach Ralph Stevens said the county’s youth program begins competing this weekend at Calloway County and has events scheduled into April. Trigg will host a tournament on March 27 at the high school gym.

The youth team practices from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday in the elementary school gym, and new wrestlers are welcome to join, Stevens said. For more information, Stevens can be reached at 270-350-3394.
