The Rev. Paul Cannon officiated at the services. Burial followed in East End Cemetery, Cadiz.
Mrs. Oakley died at 12:38 p.m. Friday, March 5, 2010 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, Tennessee after a long illness.
Mrs. Oakley was born April 26, 1942 in Indianapolis, Ind. She was the daughter of the late L.T. and Margie Hacker Riddle.
Mrs. Oakley was a homemaker and a member of the Canton Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her first husband, Cecil Kenneth Mays, Sr., her second husband, William Chester Oakley, one daughter, Dawn Renee Mays, and two sisters, Carolyn Sue Perriera and Annie Brewer.
Survivors include one son; Christopher Keith Mays, Logansport, Ind., one step son and daughter-in-law, Cecil Kenneth Mays, Jr. and Anna, Griffith, Ind., three daughters, Mrs. Danny “Star” Green, Cadiz, Vickey Mays Richardson, Cadiz, Daphne Y. Smith and John Bates, Cadiz, brother and sister-in-law; Jimmy and Anna Riddle, Evansville, Ind., nine grandchildren; Billy and Chelsie White, Danny White and Misty Kamper, John and Brook Green, Chris and Cathy Mays, Cassandra and Mike Southerland, Kimbo Campbell, Kelly Campbell, Amanda and Mike Durbin, Robbie Mays, five step grandchildren, and 25 great grandchildren.
Serving, as pallbearers were Billy White, Danny White, John Green, Chris Mays, Mike Southerland and Eddy Van-Aken.
Betty Oakley, Pianist and Canton Baptist Church Choir provide the music.
