February is National Children’s Dental Health Month and Kelly Dawes, BSN Health Educator for Pennyrile District Health Department presented a program on oral health and gave each family an information packet including tooth brushes for the little ones. Refreshments were served and each family also received a bag of items to promote parent/child interaction and enhance optimal growth and development.
The H.A.N.D.S. Program is a home visitation program provided through the local health department. Parents can expect support through their pregnancy, facts that let you know your baby is growing and developing in healthy ways, and activities that you and your baby can enjoy together that can stimulate your child’s brain development. It is free and available to all first time parents.
Please call your local health department for more information at 270-522-8121.
Information for this staff report was contributed by Linda Burnam, RN, HANDS Coordinator for the Pennyrile District Health Department.
