After falling behind 7-0, the Wildcats fought back with a five-run third inning, but the Colonels’ offensive onslaught continued, ending the game after Trigg failed to score in the fifth.
Hunter Smillie started on the mound and was saddled with the loss, pitching two innings and striking out four batters. Zack Bridges pitched the other two innings and recorded one strikeout.
Smillie drove in two runs, while Jared Stallons, Cameron Sumner and Andre Wright recorded an RBI apiece.
In the junior varsity game, the Wildcats lost 12-1 in three innings of play. David Wease was the losing pitcher, and Nick Wright knocked home Trigg’s only run. Conner McCloud and Ryan Russell each had singles for the ‘Cats.
