The Trigg County Wildcats reached the 10-win plateau last week thanks to wins over Livingston Central, Stewart County (Tenn.) and Lyon County.

Last Tuesday, the ‘Cats (10-12) enjoyed a late-game offensive explosion in a 14-7 win over 5th District rival Livingston. Trigg trailed 5-2 after three innings but plated seven runs in the fourth, two more in the fifth and three in the sixth.

Alex Sadler pitched two innings to pick up the victory, and he also smacked a run-scoring double. Andre Wright led Trigg’s offense with a single, a double and four runs batted in. Hunter Allen and R.J. Sholar each had two hits and two RBIs, Cody Carrico hit an RBI-triple, and Jared Stallons, David Wease and Conner McCloud each had two singles.

Last Wednesday, the ‘Cats needed another late-inning rally to top Stewart County 7-6. Trigg, trailing 6-1 entering the sixth inning, scored six runs and kept Stewart off the board in the seventh to preserve the win for Stallons, who struck out two batters in two innings on the mound.

Sholar led Trigg at the plate with four hits (including two doubles) and two RBIs. Wease had two singles and two RBIs, and Zack Bridges recorded an RBI-double.

Friday, Trigg pitchers held Lyon County to two hits in a 10-0, five-inning win. Bridges picked up the win with three innings of work.

Wright had another good day at the plate with two singles and two RBIs. Hunter Smillie had two hits and a run batted in, Bridges slapped an RBI-single and Sholar had two hits.

Trigg was scheduled to play Tuesday at Crittenden County (results unavailable at press time) before playing Thursday at Dawson Springs, Friday at Livingston Central and this weekend against Clinton County and Graves County in the Town and Country Classic at Christian County. The ‘Cats will also host Dawson Springs next Tuesday.
