Funeral services for Ernest “Ike” Johnston, 87, of Cadiz, were Saturday, May 1 at Goodwin Funeral Home in Cadiz. The Revs. John Hagan and Norman Cotton officiated along with Suellen Hendricks. Interment followed at Jones Cemetery in Trigg County.

Mr. Johnston passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at Trigg County Hospital in Cadiz

He was a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church, where he was a Deacon, Sunday School teacher and former church treasurer.

He retired from The Soil Conservation Service in 1987. He was a US Army Veteran serving in WWII and was also a member of NARFE.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in law, Suellen and Vernon Hendricks of Cadiz, and one grandson, Jason Clark Ezell of Lexington.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Smith Johnston, Sr., mother Georgia “Pug” (Humphries) Johnston, wife Willie Mae (Goode) Johnston, and son Jerry Johnston.

Serving as pallbearers were George Humphries, Stan Humphries, Bob Brame, Larry Bailey, Lindsey Champion and Jackie Franklin, Honorary pallbearers were Bill Dockery, Henry Mitchell, J.D. Wade, Donald Hargis, Gayle Outland and Dickie Oliver. Music was provided by Vicki Bridges, organist.
