The five teens who are defendants in the 2008 Memorial Day weekend rape case plead guilty to a lesser charge in Trigg County Circuit Court Wednesday afternoon.

Trigg Circuit Judge C.A. "Woody" Woodall III reduced the first degree rape charges to second degree assault charges and deferred the five-year sentences for defendants Devon Morris, Christopher Futtrell, Nicholas King, Michael Oakley and Marcus Mayes.

Woodall also dismissed the sodomy charges, but told the defendants that they have to issue a written apology to the victim at their next hearing on Wednesday, July 14, and added that they cannot contact the victim or her family.
