Coach Brigette Durham welcomed all the cheerleaders, their families and guests. Senior parent Cammy Latham offered invocation. After dinner Coach Durham gave awards for the following categories:
Outstanding flyers: Linda Fitch, Paxton Stroud, Kaitlynne Williamson and Abby Thompson.
Outstanding bases: Chris Jenkins, Karen Latham, Jayse P’Pool and Casey Hyde.
Outstanding Spotters: Taylor Creed, Taylor Joyce, and Kayla Oakley.
The Outstanding Pep awards went to Chris Jenkins, Karen Latham and Paxton Stroud.
Most Creativity went to Jayse P’Pool, Kayla Oakley and Kaitlynne Williamson.
Most dependable awards were given to Linda Fitch, Taylor Creed, Casey Hyde and Abby Thompson.
Best gymnastics awards were given to Chris Jenkins, Linda Fitch and Taylor Joyce.
Coach Durham had awards for her Captain, senior Karen Latham, and the two junior co-captains, Linda Fitch and Taylor Creed.
The following awards were given for Honor Roll/Principal’s List Awards. There were four girls that maintained that status all year: Abby Thompson, Casey Hyde, Taylor Creed and Kaitlynne Williamson.
The next awards were the Most Fun Awards, decided by team vote. Those awards are: The Hungry Girl Award- Abby Thompson; Where’s Waldo Award- Kaitlynne Williamson; Happy-Go-Lucky- Casey Hyde, Most Fun Award- Paxton Stroud; Most Valuable Award, Kayla Oakley; Most Talkative Award- Taylor Creed and Most Crazy Award- Jayse P’Pool. Several of the girls received their “Letter” for varsity sports.
The Senior Award was presented to Karen Latham. Karen has cheered for the Wildcats her entire high school career. She served as captain. Karen plans to attend Hopkinsville Community College for two years and then transfer to a four-year university to complete her degree.
Karen was given a framed Wildcat Shell with matting around shell with messages from her squad. After the awards were complete, a highlight video was shown that was prepared by Linda Fitch and Faith Fitch.
The video was a collage of memories for the 2009-2010 year. The closing of the video had a special “Happy Birthday” for Jayse P’Pool; she turned 16 the day of the banquet.
In Coach Durham’s closing remarks she stated that she hoped that everyone had enjoyed the year, although it had a rough beginning, she couldn’t be more proud of the way her team ended the year.
She told the girls, “I hope each and everyone one of you will come out next year, so that we can continue to move our varsity cheerleading to higher levels of performance.”
Senior Karen Latham said, “I want to say something, but you all know I am going to cry, but anyway. I have enjoyed this year and having each of you on the team. You girls that came on late, you were awesome; you really helped make this team what it ended up. I am going to miss cheering with you.”
