Mrs. Mize passed away on Thursday, May 20, 2010, at Rivers Bend Retirement Community in Kuttawa. She was a member of Cadiz Baptist Church and the former owner and operator of Wilkinson’s Department Store in Cadiz.
She is survived by her two sons, Denny Mize of Cerulean and Jim Mize of Cadiz; two grandchildren, Victoria Anne and Steven Freeman of Bowling Green and Morgan Lewis Barby of Bowling Green; four great-grandchildren, Julia Kirby Freeman, Ava Lewis Freeman, Caroline Marie Freeman and Samuel Mize Freeman.
She was preceded in death by her parents George Lawrence and Julia Mae (Childress) Holmes, husband Harold H. Mize and brother Rober D. Holmes.
Serving as pallbearers were Harold Morris, Caroll Morris, Craig Mize, Jeff Carr, Newell Bailey and Rodney Whittington. Honorary pallbearers were Sue Rich, Dean Carr, Jean Chapman, Huel Edwards, Mary Nell Hopson, Verna Litchfield, Nell Leneave, Martha Maxfield, Jewel Mille and Louise Guess. Music for Mary R. Mize service was provided by Carolyn Stallons, pianist.
