Funeral services for Mamie Louise Jones 83, of Cadiz, were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at Rocky Ridge Baptist Church. Gamble Funeral Home; Hopkinsville was in charge of arrangements. The Rev. Kenneth Wharton officiated. Burial followed in the Rocky Ridge Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Jones died of congestive heart failure at 7:40 p.m. Sunday, May 30, 2010 at Kindred Hospital in Nashville, Tenn.

Mrs. Jones was born November 26, 1926 in Earlington. She was the daughter of the late Clifton Henry Long and McKerty Kirby.

Mrs. Jones was a teacher. She taught at South Suburban Harvey – Chicago (Ill.) Public School System. She was President of the West Harvey Federation Teacher’s Union – District 147, Local 1698. Teacher and Union President in School District #147 from 1968-1993. School board member in School District 152 in 1972. She was a member of Rocky Ridge Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents ,she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter F. Jones.

Survivors include one daughter, Mamie L. Smith of Flossmoor, Ill.; one son, Walter F. Jones Jr. of Cadiz; one sister, Eddie V. Grant of Chicago; seven grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
