The Rev. Irvin Darnall officiated. Burial followed at Trigg Memory Acres in Cadiz.
Mr. Francis died of natural causes at 2:25 p.m. Saturday, June 19, 2010 at Trigg County Hospital.
Mr. Francis was born May 1, 1933 in Trigg County. His parents were Clarence Averitt Francis and Berta Thomas Francis.
He was a retired school superintendent, having held the position in Hancock and Rowan counties. He was the owner and operator of the Cadiz Speedway Gas Co., and Cadiz-Trigg Recreational restaurant. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Henderson, was a member of the Cadiz Masonic Lodge No. 121, Rizpah Shrine Temple, Kentucky Retired Teachers Association and was a United States Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Sara (Neville) Francis of Cadiz; daughter and son-in-law Donna Ann and David Abell Constantine of Centennial, Colo.; brother Carl Ray Francis of Henderson; sister Betty F. Nicholson of Hermitage, Tenn.; and grandchildren Jennifer Elizabeth Constantine and Joseph William Constantine.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Francis and Clarence Francis, and a sister, Donna Moore.
Pallbearers were Steve Francis, C.A. Francis, Wesley Francis, Gene Francis, Merrick Francis, Bill Wood, George Moore and Bobby Prescott. Honorary pallbearers were Dennis Fentress, Dennis Thomas, Rex Francis, Ray Burnam, Roy Ezell and Winfield Witty.
Music at the service was provided by Joe Bridges, vocalist, and Jan Oakley, pianist.
