Trigg County opened play with an 8-7 loss to Lyon County on Thursday. Lyon scored five runs in the last inning to pick up the win.
Trevor Cortner and Darrin Brown each had two hits for Trigg County, while Kirome Bingham added a triple and Jamarion Grubbs had a single and two RBIs.
In the loser’s bracket game Saturday, Trigg County ralied with five runs in the last inning to beat Crittenden County 10-9. Jase Polley bounced a ball over the left-centerfield fence with the bases loaded to drive in the winning run. Polley also added a double earlier in the game. Wesley Choate had three hits and two RBIs, while Brown had two RBIs and Ashton Plymale had a double and an RBI.
Tyler Ladd struck out six in three innings of work on the mound, while Cortner picked up the win in relief.
Trigg County was bitten by the big-inning bug again in an 8-6 loss to Calloway County later Saturday afternoon, giving up six runs in the fourth inning.
Trigg had the bases loaded in the last inning, but a groundout ended the game.
Plymale, Grubbs and Polley each had two hits for Trigg County, with Polley driving in a pair of runs. Taylor Hampton and Riley Stallons also had run-scoring hits for Trigg County.
Trigg County will return to action this weekend at Marshall County’s Second Annual Autumn Rumble at Mike Miller Park in Draffenville.
