That is what Trigg County Clerk Wanda Thomas said late Monday morning.
Although all six Cadiz City Council position are up for election as they are every two years, only Frankie Phillips had filed to run for re-election as of Monday, Aug. 2.
Meanwhile, Cadiz Mayor Lyn Bailey has filed to run for mayor, and this year he has competition in the form of James Britt. Bailey said he’s working on his third four-year term as Mayor and added that while he had opposition when he ran the first time, he was unopposed the last two times he ran.
Bailey also said he thinks the remaining city councilors will file before the deadline, as he hasn’t heard anything about them not running for re-election.
LaVern Baker has filed to run for District 3 of the Trigg County Board of Education. And although Districts 1 and 3 are up this year, District 1 Member Sharon Simmons and District 3 Member Joan Terrell have not yet filed.
District 1 comprises Canton No. 1, Canton No. 2 and Linton/Maggie. District 3 comprises North Cadiz No. 1 and North Cadiz No. 2.
Finally, Bob Lawrence has filed to run as supervisor of the Trigg County Conservation District, while Lewis McCormick and Daniel Hale have filed to run for positions on the conservation district.
