While some schools had less students than last year and others had more, all of the students and staff were excited to be back at school, said Hamby, who became superintendent in July.
A couple of changes in the bus drop off procedures helped with getting students in the buildings, and when the time came to get them back on the busses, water was provided due to the extreme heat, said Hamby, who added that the air conditioning units at the schools are working.
Attendance numbers have already improved and should continue to grow as school gets back on track, Hamby said.
