Mr. Mitchell died at 10 a.m. Monday, August 30, 2010 at Garrett Farms in Trigg County due to injuries sustained in a horse-riding accident.
He was born August 14, 1963 in Caldwell County.
He was the farm manager for Garrett Farms and was the former owner and operator of Cadiz Family Restaurant. He was the president of the Kentucky Junior Rodeo Association, secretary for Ducks Unlimited and coordinator of the Toys for Tots Annual Trail Ride. He was also a Kentucky Colonel. He attended Canton Baptist Church.
Survivors include his mother and step-father Janie (Williams) and Tommy Oliver of cadiz; daughter Megan Mitchell of Cadiz; fiancee Pebbles Lancaster of Cadiz; brother and sister-in-law Greg and Melissa Mitchell of Cadiz; step-daughter Chassen Lancaster of Cadiz; foster brother Gary “J.R.” Houha of Cadiz; step-brother and sister-in-law Michael and Christy Oliver of Cadiz; step-sister and brother-in-law Missy and Jay Lefan of Eddyville; nephew Caleb Mitchell of Cadiz; step-mephews Cody Autry and Ty Lefan; step-nieces Courtney Oliver and Lauren Oliver; several aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his father, Willard “Pete” Barkley Mitchell, Sr., and brother Willard Barkley Mitchell, Jr.
Pallbearers at the service will be Paul Hyde, Craig Banister, Anthony Fourshee, J.R. Houha, Danny Stewart, Darren McChristian, Ronnie Coleman and Ken Hall.
