The State Fire Marshall’s Office is investigating a fire that totally destroyed a home in the 1500 block of Goose Hollow Road Thursday morning, Trigg-Lyon Fire Chief Paul Carr said.

The fire started at about 8 a.m. Thursday morning in a two-bedroom home on Goose Hollow Road owned by Blake Baldwin, and when nine members of the Trigg-Lyon Volunteer Fire Department and four members of the East Golden Pond Volunteer Fire Department arrived, the fire was already fully involved, said Carr.

Baldwin left about 15 minutes before the fire started, as he on his way to pick up his wife in Oklahoma, so no one was in the home when the fire started and no one was injured or killed, Carr said, adding that firefighters used 5,000 gallons to put out the fire for about two hours.

The fire pretty much destroyed the home, and although parts of a few of the walls are still standing, the inside is gutted and what remains of the structure will need to be torn down, said Carr.

The fire chief also said that since he couldn’t figure out what caused the fire, so he contacted the Deputy State Fire Marshall, who is investigating the fire. Carr stated that he couldn’t comment on the cause even if he knew, given that the investigation is ongoing.
