Mr. Mitchell died following a short illness at 10:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah.
He was born April 12, 1941 in Trigg County to the late Woodrow and Nellie Litchfield Mitchell.
He was a member of the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. He was a retired carpenter from TVA-LBL. He was also a veteran of the US Navy.
He is preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth “Pete” Mitchell.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Marie Mitchell of Cadiz; two brothers, Buddy Mitchell and Robert Mitchell both of Cadiz; two sisters, Linda Gibbs of Cadiz and Brenda Wallace of Big Rock, Tenn.; one son, Larry Mitchell of Cadiz; and one daughter, Margie Mitchell of Cadiz.
Pallbearers were Sonny Litchfield, Tommy Litchfield, Gary Litchfield, Jimmy Litchfield, Wallace Litchfield, Clarence Litchfield and Herman Litchfield. Honorary pallbearers were Roger Jones, Wendell Jones, Brent Futrell, Mike Futrell, Terry Wayne Choate, Tim King, Tony Mitchell, Stoney Mitchell, Mike Wallace, Frankie Gibbs, Tracy Gibbs and Stacy Gibbs. Music was provided by Joan Terrell, pianist, and Calvary Missionary Baptist Church Choir.
