Her parents were the late Ione Hardin and Madelyn Hardin-Nunn.
She was a graduate of the University of Kentucky in Lexington. She worked as a social worker and a teacher. She retired from the Trigg County School System and was a member of Cadiz Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School.
She was preceded in death by her step-father, Jack Nunn; one sister, Betty Hardin; and brother-in-law Winthrop Hopson.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, W. J. Hopson; three daughters, Leanne (and husband Garry) King of Denton, Mon., Shara (and husband Bill) Hardy of Greensboro, N.C. and Madelyn (and husband Tom) Resterdorf of Spring Hill, Tenn.; one sister-in-law, Celia Hopson of Cadiz; eight grandchildren, Margaret Futrell, William Scott Hardy, Jennifer Arenth, Mary Kulkarni, Brian Hardy, Henry, Ben and Will Retersdorf; six great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Hardy, Savannah Arenth, Jack Shimkin, Lily Hardy, Nathan Kulkarni and Benjamin Hardy.
Serving as pallbearers were Garry King, Bill Hardy, Tom Retersdorf, Howell Hopson, David Shore, Tommy Dunn and Frankie Phillips. and serving as Honorary Pallbearers were Scott Hardy, Brian Hardy, Henry Retersdorf, Ben Retersdorf and Will Retersdorf. Tom Retersdorf sang a solo of “Amazing Grace.”
