James A Dixon, 84, Wiswell Road, died at 11:57 a.m., October 19, 2010, at his home. He was born in Golden Pond, Trigg County, in November of 1925.

He was a retired farmer and had also worked at Pennyrile Rural Electric, Hoovers’s and Paschall Truck Lines. He was a member of the Salem Baptist Church, Lynn Grove. He had been a W.O.W. member for over 66 years and also a member of the American Legion.

He was a 745th Primary Rifleman in Okinawa, Japan, in 1948, and then in 1950 was shipped out to Korea where he was a trackman in transportation in charge of keeping communication lines open to the front line, Honorably discharged in 1953 as Private First Class.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Jones Dixon, children, Debby Dixon Kimbro (husband Billy) and Mike Dixon (wife Sara), grandchildren, Toby Kimbro and Jaime Kimbro Carson, step-grandson, Justin Baker; great-grandchildren: Tyler Carpenter, Reese Kimbro, Braden Carpenter and Audrey Carson, all of Murray, a brother, Charles Dixon of Michigan, sister, Christine Berkley of East Peoria, Illinois, sister, Jackie Berkley of Batavia, Illinois, an uncle, Mike Goy, of Michigan, several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Roscoe and Dewey Ahart Dixon, his brothers, Eura “Dock” Dixon and Hollis Earl Dixon, and sister, Novalee Wendt.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home, and burial will be in the Murray Memorial Gardens. Pastors John Sheppard, Phillip Bazzell, and Irvin Darnell. Visitation will be held Friday, October 22, 2010 from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
